For those of you who have been wondering since the amnio…without further ado:

Wee baby is:

A wee baby BOY!

Have got to get cracking on a mutually acceptable boy’s name. I have none in mind.  A preliminary perusal of the Baby Center’s top 100 list produced absolutely no overlap between what I liked and what Miguel liked.  We may need all of the next 5 months!  We won’t be not sharing to be secretive, we won’t be sharing because we won’t know ourselves!

Congratulations on having a boy! Naming is so hard. There are a few sites that list uncommon baby names if that is what you are looking for. I can’t remember them off the top of my head but just search uncommon baby names and you’ll find some. 🙂

Thanks, Amy! I also have a book of 10,000 baby names to start going through now that I know the sex. I want something uncommon but not trendy and not weird for the sake of being weird. The trendy ones it’s always “Oh, you don’t hear of many of these,” and then the kid shows up in preschool and there are ten other Braden, Caden, Hayden, Maden, blah blah blahs. Everyone thought they were being so original, and it turns out everyone had the same idea. But I’m not going to name the kid Moon Unit just to make sure that none one else has his name. 🙂
That’s why I love the baby name wizard; it plots the popularity of names over the years. I was always one of a couple of my name through school, but I totally peeked in the early 70’s and nobody uses my name nowadays. It’s all Emmas, Isabells, Sophies, Mackenzies, and Olivias now.
p.s. I was originally to be named Amy, but my couisin was born a week before me and my aunt stole it 🙂

I won’t lie, it has been an adjustment. I’ve always been (since before I even got pregnant) single-mindedly determined that I’d be having a girl. I had girl names picked out, and a pink and green nursery scheme, imagined someday enrolling her in dance and cheerleading. A wee baby boy is not so scary to me, but the prospect of a not so wee gruby teenage boy is something new to wrap my head around.
Still after, the scare we had, I’m perfectly happy and excited for a boy. I think I’ve got the nursery schemed picked out, and will start planning the whole thing soon. The name will come, I’m sure!

We had the same problem…it took us months to agree, and even then I wasn’t sure I agreed. In the end three of the winning names (2 first, 1 middle) were my husband’s choice. I think we have a spreadsheet of over 10k boy names that he pulled from various sources, I’ll see if I can find them for you.

Hee. Luckily, Miguel has a short attention span. I fully intend on squirreling away the babycenter list and just leaving his chosen names off the next list presented for consideration. 🙂
